In the Kinnaur area of Himachal Pradesh, between the towns of Sangla and Chitkul, sits the breathtakingly picturesque village of Rakcham. Starting from here are several fantastic routes and trips. You may learn more about authentic Kinnauri culture by staying in a homestay in this area, which is filled with wooden cottages and temples.

Sangla Valley lacks a railroad station and an airport. Regular HRTC and private buses travel to Sangla from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla. You can also drive or hire a cab.

Folktales Residency

In the tranquil surroundings of lush green Rakchham, this ancient wooden cottage is tucked away by the rushing Baspa in the middle of a sizable apple orchard. It offers 360-degree views of the mountains covered with snow. It is the ideal place to stay for artists and nature enthusiasts, with the enchanted Baspa valley in the south and Shoshala peak in the north. Nearby, there are some charming nature trails where you may observe the local fauna. Visit in September or the first few days of October when the apples are ripe and ready to be picked off the trees.

There are four comfortable guest rooms with associated bathrooms available. Every accommodation has a view of a mountain or garden. The common area has a selection of books, Jenga pieces, Uno cards, etc., which is the focal point of the accommodation. The entire arrangement creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The location is excellent for working from home, and the mobile network is passable.

House Rules:

  1. Outside slippers or shoes are not permitted within the rooms. 2. Smoking is not permitted inside the home.
  2. Visitors are asked to respect other people’s privacy and not cause any form of disturbance.

Three kilometres separate it from the Rakcham Village.

There are four rooms and a total of 12 people.
